A Review of Hale Keawe

We arrived at the property after a picturesque
drive down the long winding Napo'opo'o
Road. Fronting the property is a slightly used grassy one lane dead end road. We realized
we should have called the caretaker since
we were greeted to locked front gates.
Heading back to Kona, the entire conversation
centered on what we were about experience.
A call to the caretaker and we were headed back to Hale Keawe, this time finding unlocked gates
open to new adventures. There is a large grassy area for parking your vehicles. No time to unload the luggage since we wanted to see the goods.
The goods delivered! We entered through the front doorway accessible from a garden walkway.
You enter into a living room area which is open on one side to the main courtyard. There is a King Sized bed as well as a large corner couch near the entertainment center. CD/TV/VCR/DVD
Off the living room is a dining area and fully
stocked kitchen. The decor is very "island friendly". Connected on one side is a two story
building containing two enclosed bedrooms.
Each bedroom has its own full bathroom.
The home reminded me of an Adult Playground.
The courtyard featured a six person spa as well
as a palm supported hammock for doing absolutely nothing but taking in the Hawaiian sky.
The home includes a full size washer and dryer as well as a data port for your computing needs.
A gas BBQ, full stove, microwave and dishwasher
will meet your gourmet needs. Water enthusiasts
will love the 4 two-man Kayaks and Snorkel gear
The owner's personal touch
is evident throughout with a
wide array of artwork, statues and various wall hangings
Views to Kealakekua Bay and a direct view to Captain Cook's monument are offered from the upstairs Lanai area.
Or become part of the Bay while riding on a Kayak trailed by a playful pod of dolphins.

One of our favorite things about
Hale Keawe was the two resident
cats who amused us daily.
A great way to relieve the stress of
leaving your own pets back home.
Insomniacs take note! This Guest Cabana
will lull you to sleep from the sound of the nearby crashing waves. The Cabana also features a full outdoor lava rock shower.
Of course, some privacy is provided. I spent
four amazing nights in this open air room.

Nearby attractions include the Place of Refuge (5+ minutes)

A "One of a Kind" experience.
