Travel Invasion recently spent close to a
week on the Big Island of Hawaii. We wanted the first night to be in the Kona region. After
spending about an hour searching the Net
for the different lodging choices in the area,
we unanimously selected the Royal Kona
Resort.  We are so glad we did!
From the airport, the Royal Kona is about a 10 to 15 minute drive south. It would be hard to miss the property as it appears to be located on the best piece of Real Estate the area had to offer.
The Royal Kona seems to be rising from the ocean like an explosive wave. As the rental car neared, we all seemed to breathe a somewhat stunned sigh of relief. An awesome way to start the week.
Located on Alii Drive fronting beautiful Kailua Bay, the resort consists of 452 guest rooms, swimming pool, saltwater lagoon for safe and secure snorkling adventures, 4 tennis courts, restaurant and lounge. All the rooms are air conditioned and have recently been refurbished
with a tasteful island decor. The bathrooms are spacious with strong water pressure being a pleasant surprise to my morning shower.
The Travel Invasion crew had connecting third floor rooms with one of the rooms known as a Corner King. These rooms cost a little extra but seem to be well worth the price. Each Corner King room features a large wrap around lanai area offering gorgeous views in different directions. Our room looked south to the lagoon below and also facing west looking out to the Pacific.
My only complaint would have to be that we were only staying for one night. Room rates start in the mid $80's which is an absolute bargain considering what the Royal Kona has to offer. Various packages can be found on their website with some including breakfast, and others including a rental car.

The Royal Kona
Resort can be
considered a
royal bargain.
Right in the heart
of the Kailua-Kona
region and close
to shops, restaurants &
various activities.
Travel Invasion returned later in the week to the Royal Kona to witness
The Drums of Polynesia Luau. An interesting spread of food, open bar and front row seats for a exciting journey through the islands of the South Pacific. The show concluded with an amazing Fire Dancer. The luau was definitely a crowd pleasing experience.
